The exhibition series HERE AND NOW at Museum Ludwig challenges the conventions of museum work from today’s perspective. Russia’s war against Ukraine changes our approach toward the concept of “Russian avant-garde.” Many artists historically viewed under this umbrella term, including such names from the collection of the Museum Ludwig as Alexandra Exter, Oleksandr Bohomazov, Volodymyr Burliuk, and Vasyl Yermilov, lived and worked in Ukraine and played an instrumental role in shaping Ukrainian culture one hundred years ago. They either came from or had studios in such cities as Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv, where they created Cubo-Futurist, Suprematist, and Constructivist works.
The exhibition dedicated to modernism in Ukraine brings together some eighty paintings and works on paper created between the 1900s and 1930s. Curated by Konstantin Akinsha, Katia Denysova, and Olena Kashuba-Volvach, it was first presented under the title In the Eye of the Storm: Modernism in Ukraine, 1900-1930s at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. The show features many loans from the National Art Museum of Ukraine and the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema Arts of Ukraine that transported out of the country from Kyiv. This selection is complemented by works from private collections and the holdings of the Museum Ludwig. Many of the displayed artists, including Oleksandr Bohomazov, Anatol Petrytskyi and Sarah Shor, as well as such artists’ groups as the Boichukists and the Jewish Kultur Lige, are hardly known in the West and will be a real discovery for the international audience.

Since then, the museum has borne the name Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud in gratitude and in honor of the donors.

Hardly any place and time have influenced art history as much as Paris in 1874, because the first exhibition of the later world-famous impressionists such as Degas, Morisot, Monet, Renoir and Sisley took place here 150 years ago. With its major exhibition “1863 • PARIS • 1874: Revolution in art".

The exhibition “Perfect Match” is dedicated to the phenomenon of the Kunstkammer by bringing selected objects from the MAKK and Thomas Olbricht’s private collection into an exciting interplay.
Despite their different content, both collections impressively reflect the central task of the historical art chambers, namely to understand the comprehensive areas of art and nature, to unite them and to control them through humans. The exhibition illuminates this exciting network of relationships between art, people and nature in seven themed rooms, with the focus on the early and heyday of art chambers in the 16th and 17th centuries. The MAKK art chamber pieces were deliberately collected as evidence of outstanding artistic creation and go back to a civic collecting tradition. In contrast, Thomas Olbricht's private collection, which is one of the world's most important special collections, is inspired by the universal collection idea of historical art chambers, but corresponds entirely to the individual interests and passions of a 21st century collector.

The NS documentation center in the EL-DE house is located in a listed building that is not yet optimally equipped for barrier-free access, as certain building measures are not possible due to the monument protection. Disabled parking spaces are located near the museum, e.g. on Elisenstraße.
The entrance is not at ground level, the level of the museum is reached via five steps. The museum is currently only accessible to wheelchair users via a rear entrance upon request. The elevator in the museum can be used with the assistance of the staff, but is not suitable for large electric elevators because it is too small. The elevator leads to the exhibition levels from the ground floor to the second floor. The memorial in the basement of the building can be reached at ground level via a gateway across the courtyard.
A wheelchair and a walker are available, so that all exhibition rooms can be visited with a wheelchair. A disabled toilet is located in the checkout area and is accessible without restrictions.
The cloakroom is located in the cash desk area and is accessible without restrictions.
Audio guides with hearing aids are available.
Media stations (at different locations) and listening stations are accessible for wheelchair users and can be operated barrier-free.
Guided tours in sign language are offered if required after registration.
Special exhibition entrance: 100cm and on the 1st floor. Basement hallway: 87cm Staircase door: 76 cm (76 with door handle). Courtyard door: 102 cm elevator dimensions: 80.5 width and 101.5 depth, elevator door: 91 cm
