When Joseph Beuys was awarded the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Prize of the City of Duisburg in January 1986, a few days before his death, he surprised everyone present when, in a speech that has become legendary today, he thanked his "teacher†Wilhelm Lehmbruck. An illustration of one of Lehmbruck’s works triggered an initial spark in the young Beuys: "Everything is sculpture, this picture seemed to call out to me.â€
Both artists, Lehmbruck as well as Beuys, were convinced that sculpture has the power not only to explain the world but to change it for the better. Lehmbruck and Beuys both believed that "everything is sculptureâ€. This is the motto of this exhibition dedicated to the artistic kinship between two of the most important artists of the 20th century.
An exhibition of the Lehmbruck Museum in cooperation with the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. The exhibition is part of the anniversary year programme "beuys 2021. 100 years joseph beuys".

With the "Home Game" exhibition, the Waldfrieden Sculpture Park is showing a selection of works from its own collection on the occasion of its 15th anniversary. For Tony Cragg, who, as the museum's founder and artistic director, also curates the "Home Game" exhibition, the project offers the opportunity to look back at the exhibition program of the past 15 years based on selected works. The exhibits include, for example, the large hanging sculpture "Ouranopolis" by Anne and Patrick Poirier, which was last shown as part of their "Mnemosyne" exhibition in 2016. Luise Kimme's colourful, dancing wooden figures or the lasciviously lolling "Satyr" by Stephan Balkenhol can also be rediscovered. As part of the presentation of the collection, a number of works can be seen for the first time in the sculpture park, including Norbert Kricke's work "Space sculpture white 1975/42" or Richard Deacon's stainless steel relief "Alphabet F" from 2011. Part of the permanent exhibition installed outside will also be redesigned and supplemented by new exhibits. These include sculptures by Georg Baselitz, Erwin Wurm and Not Vital, which were entrusted to the Waldfrieden as permanent loans. Added to this is Mischa Kuball's kinetic installation "rotating_mirror_horizontal", which he created especially for the sculpture park.

In the coming autumn exhibition, the Brühler Kunstverein is showing Hamburg-based Gesa Lange, an artist who is expanding the medium of drawing. In addition to various types of paper, she draws with pencil, graphite and yarn on canvas, a substrate that is primarily reserved for painting. With embroidered grids and lines as well as clear lines on the one hand and many loose thread ends and irregularities on the other, the works walk a fine line between orderly construction and its failure. In the painterly pencil drawings, the artist applies graphite to canvas or paper, places pencil hatching on top of pencil hatching and removes what has been created in order to apply new material.
A dialogue develops between the works shown, which makes the design process comprehensible.

The visible entrance to KIT – a pavilion building on the promenade that is glazed towards the Rhine – houses the KIT Café and is one of the most beautiful gastronomic addresses on the Rhine. When the sun is shining, the terrace with a view of the knee of the Rhine is a place to relax and enjoy.
Through the café, visitors reach the underground exhibition area via a large staircase or by elevator. This swings elliptically over a length of 140 meters parallel to the Rhine. The ceiling height and width of the room vary. The works of young artists are exhibited between the concrete walls, which the artistic director of the KIT, Gertrud Peters, invites to exhibit here.
Among other things, acoustic tours are carried out for visually impaired and blind visitors.
